Eligibility
Attendance and Subject Rules
CBSE has clear rules on attendance and subjects. Breaking them can make a student ineligible to appear.
Attendance
A minimum of 75% attendance is required to appear in the board exam.
Relaxation can be considered only on valid grounds with documentary evidence, as per CBSE’s attendance-shortage rules.
Schools report attendance-shortage cases to CBSE as per the prescribed procedure.
Subject Rules
Students study five main subjects, with one of them being a language (Hindi or English).
A sixth (additional) subject is optional.
Health and Physical Education, Work Experience and General Studies are internally assessed.
Subjects needing laboratory work can be offered only if the school has CBSE approval.
Only combinations allowed under the Scheme of Studies are accepted; invalid combinations are treated as not eligible.
After LOC submission, subject changes are not allowed (except in transfer cases).
