The National Medical Commission (NMC) has published the NEET PG 2026 counselling seat matrix for postgraduate medical admissions to MD, MS, DNB and postgraduate diploma programmes. The development comes ahead of the first round of counselling, with the MCC set to open the registration portal for candidates under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category from October 1, 2026. Eligible candidates will be able to access the counselling facility through the official MCC website, mcc.nic.in.

According to the schedule issued through the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the Primary Medical Assessment Board for PwD candidates will begin its assessment process from October 1, 2026. The board will remain available until 5 PM on October 9, 2026. Candidates applying under the PwD category have been advised to visit the designated primary medical assessment centre within the prescribed period and complete the required assessment within the stipulated timeline.

Candidates requiring an appellate medical assessment will also have a separate window. The Appellate Medical Assessment Board will conduct assessments from 10 am on October 5, 2026, until 5 PM on October 12, 2026. The schedule provides candidates with an opportunity to undergo the prescribed appellate assessment within the specified period, following the process applicable to PwD candidates participating in NEET PG counselling 2026.

NBEMS is also scheduled to provide candidates with detailed examination-related information from October 1. This will include the question identification numbers, correct answers, the responses recorded or marked by individual candidates, and the scores awarded for each question. The release of these details will allow candidates to review the question-wise information associated with their NEET PG 2026 performance.

The 2026 seat matrix reflects an increase in postgraduate medical seats compared with the previous academic cycle. The total number of MD, MS and postgraduate diploma seats has risen to around 58,000, compared with 52,173 seats in the previous year, representing an increase of about 11 per cent. The expansion also covers different types of medical institutions, with private and deemed universities recording a 32 per cent increase in seats, while government medical colleges have recorded an increase of up to 10 per cent.

Candidates should also check the official MCC and NBEMS websites regularly for the latest counselling notices, seat matrix updates, registration instructions and examination-related documents.
