Duolingo English Test Requirements 2026
Since the Duolingo English Test is a fully online, at-home exam, you must complete the test setup carefully. The requirements are listed below:
A laptop or desktop computer (mobile phones and tablets are not allowed).
Working webcam, microphone, and speakers.
A stable internet connection.
Important Note for Test Takers:
DET uses both AI and human proctoring review. Many Reddit users report tests getting “Not Certified” due to:
Looking away too often
Lip movement before speaking
Background noise
Dual monitors connected
Using a phone in the room
Lighting issues
This is one of the biggest practical risks students should know. If your test is not certified, you do not get a score and must retake it.
