How the SAT "Counselling" Process Works

Instead of registering on a centralized counselling portal, students follow a decentralized, university-specific application routine:

1.Send SAT Scores via College Board:Within 13 days of the test.

Log into your College Board account and select the colleges you want to receive your scores. You get 4 free score reports every time you take the test; subsequent reports incur a separate sending fee.

2.Apply Directly to Individual Universities:Varies by college deadlines.

Fill out the application form on each specific university's portal (e.g., Ashoka, NMIMS, Shiv Nadar in India) or aggregate platforms like the Common App for universities abroad.

3.Holistic Evaluation & Interviews:1 to 2 months post-application.

Unlike rigid rank lists, universities review the application holistically. Your SAT score is paired with Class 10/12 board marks, essays, Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs), and often an online personal interview.
