Key Takeaways

  • Chemistry is part of the SAT paper (part of 40 Science questions).

  • Questions match the Class IX–X level.

  • Concept clarity plus timed MCQ practice is the winning approach.

NTSE Chemistry Preparation

Chemistry questions in NTSE tested clear understanding of Class IX–X concepts. A structured plan built on NCERT textbooks, followed by regular MCQ practice, works best.

High-value Areas

  • Matter, mixtures and separation techniques

  • Atoms, molecules and atomic structure

  • Chemical reactions and equations

  • Acids, bases and salts

  • Metals and non-metals; carbon and its compounds

Step-by-step Preparation Plan

  1. Read NCERT chapters and list all reactions with examples.

  2. Practise balancing equations.

  3. Memorise the pH scale, indicators and common salts.

  4. Solve chapter-wise MCQs.

  5. Revise with mixed Science tests weekly.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Skipping NCERT examples and in-text questions

  • Practising MCQs before understanding the concept

  • Not timing practice sessions

  • Ignoring revision of earlier chapters

Pro Tip: Group reactions by type (combination, decomposition, displacement, redox). It makes MCQs much easier to crack.
