Key Takeaways

  • Physics is part of the SAT paper (part of 40 Science questions).

  • Questions match the Class IX–X level.

  • Concept clarity plus timed MCQ practice is the winning approach.

NTSE Physics Preparation

Physics questions in NTSE tested clear understanding of Class IX–X concepts. A structured plan built on NCERT textbooks, followed by regular MCQ practice, works best.

High-value Areas

  • Motion, force and laws of motion

  • Gravitation, work and energy

  • Sound

  • Light: reflection and refraction, the human eye

  • Electricity and magnetic effects of current

Step-by-step Preparation Plan

  1. Read each NCERT chapter and note key definitions and formulae.

  2. Solve all NCERT numericals.

  3. Draw ray and circuit diagrams by hand.

  4. Practise concept-based MCQs on each chapter.

  5. Revise with mixed Science tests weekly.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Skipping NCERT examples and in-text questions

  • Practising MCQs before understanding the concept

  • Not timing practice sessions

  • Ignoring revision of earlier chapters

Pro Tip: For numericals, always write units. Many wrong options in MCQs differ only by unit or a factor of 10.
