IPU CET 2027 Exam Pattern

Full page

The IPU CET 2027 examination pattern is designed to evaluate candidates' subject knowledge, analytical reasoning, aptitude and programme-specific abilities. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) conducts separate Common Entrance Tests for different undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with each examination following a syllabus and subject-wise weightage relevant to the selected course.

The examination generally consists of objective-type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Candidates must select the correct answer from the available options. The number of questions, duration, maximum marks and marking scheme are prescribed under the University's common examination guidelines, subject to programme-specific provisions.

For the 2027–28 academic session, the final examination pattern will be confirmed in the upcoming admission brochure. The 2026–27 admission brochure provides the latest published examination structure for reference.

IPU CET Marking Scheme

GGSIPU follows a uniform marking structure for its general CET examinations, except where a specific programme has separate assessment provisions.

Correct Answer: Four marks are awarded for every correct response.

Incorrect Answer: One mark is deducted for every incorrect response.

Unattempted Question: No marks are awarded or deducted.

Multiple Responses: Marking more than one answer for a question is treated as an incorrect response and attracts negative marking.

Candidates should therefore focus on accuracy and avoid marking multiple options for the same question.

Examination Pattern for Medical and Allied Healthcare Programmes

GGSIPU also prescribes programme-specific examination structures for selected healthcare, paramedical and science programmes.

Some programmes use NEET UG as the first admission priority, while IPU CET may be considered subsequently for available seats. Therefore, candidates must distinguish between the entrance examination pattern and the order of admission priority.

These specialised papers demonstrate why candidates should prepare according to their selected programme code instead of following a single common preparation strategy.

Examination Mode and Answering Instructions

The 2026–27 general examination guidelines specify an offline OMR-based examination. The detailed instructions also contain references to online/offline examination arrangements, making the programme-specific examination notice and admit-card instructions relevant to the actual examination mode.

For OMR-based examinations, candidates should follow these precautions:

  • Read the question carefully before selecting an answer.

  • Use the prescribed black or blue ballpoint pen for marking responses.

  • Completely darken the appropriate answer bubble.

  • Avoid marking more than one option for a question.

  • Do not fold, damage or unnecessarily mark the OMR sheet.

  • Verify the roll number, question booklet code and other required information before submission.

Candidates should also remember that GGSIPU does not provide a retest merely because a candidate was unable to appear on the scheduled examination date.

Important Syllabus and Examination Guidelines

Candidates preparing for IPU CET 2027 should keep the following examination-related points in mind:

1. Understand the Programme Code

Every programme has a specific CET code. Candidates must identify their preferred programme and prepare according to its prescribed subject distribution.

2. Give Priority to High-Weightage Sections

Candidates should distribute preparation time according to the weightage of each section. For example, BCA candidates should give adequate attention to Mathematics and Computer Awareness, while B.Com. (Hons.) candidates should focus considerably on Data Interpretation.

3. Practise Objective-Type Questions

The CET examination primarily uses multiple-choice questions. Regular practice of objective questions can improve accuracy, speed and time management.

4. Improve Accuracy to Manage Negative Marking

Since incorrect answers attract a one-mark penalty, candidates should focus on understanding concepts rather than relying entirely on guesswork.

5. Practise Full-Length Mock Tests

Candidates should attempt mock examinations within the prescribed 150-minute duration to develop examination discipline and effective time allocation.

6. Revise Current Affairs Regularly

General Awareness is an important section in several programmes, particularly BBA, BMS, BAJMC and other aptitude-based examinations. Candidates should stay informed about important national, international, business, economic and educational developments.

7. Follow Subject-Specific Preparation

Science, mathematics, computer applications, media and psychology candidates should prioritise the academic subjects relevant to their selected programme.

Important Update for IPU CET 2027

The 2026–27 admission brochure and subsequent programme-specific notifications provide the latest published reference for the examination structure and syllabus. The IPU CET 2027 examination pattern, subject weightages, question distribution and syllabus will be updated as soon as GGSIPU releases the admission brochure for the 2027–28 academic session.

Eduspray will maintain this section with programme-wise examination changes, updated syllabus information, revised marking schemes and relevant preparation guidance so that students can plan their entrance examination preparation with accurate and course-specific information.

Eduspray editorial note: The detailed topic lists above are preparation-oriented expansions of the subject areas prescribed in the 2026–27 brochure and notifications. They should not be represented as an officially published chapter-by-chapter 2027 syllabus. The 2027–28 changes will be incorporated into this page when announced.
