NRI, Foreign and Domicile Seats
Apart from regular seats, NIFT has supernumerary seats for state domicile candidates and for NRI, foreign, OCI, PIO and SAARC candidates. These are over and above the regular intake.
State Domicile Seats
Available at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Daman, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Nava Raipur, Panchkula, Patna, Shillong and Varanasi (supernumerary), and domicile-preferential seats at Srinagar, as per the 2026 guidelines.
480 state domicile seats were offered in 2026.
Candidates must hold a domicile certificate of the state where the campus is located.
Unfilled domicile seats go to the general pool in the final or spot round.

Domicile seats are extra seats for home-state candidates at newer campuses.
NRI and foreign seats are filled on SAT/GMAT/GRE scores, not NIFTEE.
Unfilled NRI seats can become NRI-sponsored seats at a higher fee.
Pro Tip: If you are eligible for a domicile seat, mention it correctly in the form and keep the certificate ready — it can significantly improve your chances at your home-state campus.
