NIFT Eligibility for UG Programmes
Full page
NIFT’s undergraduate eligibility is simple: what matters is your Class 12 (or diploma) and your age. The rules below are from the NIFT 2026 Information Bulletin; the 2027 bulletin may update them.

Bachelor of Design (B.Des)
Passed 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognised board — any stream (Science, Commerce or Arts).
Or a 3- or 4-year diploma recognised by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education, after Class 10.
Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam can also apply, subject to passing before admission.
Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.FTech)
Passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Mathematics as a subject.
Or a 3- or 4-year AICTE-recognised diploma in any branch of engineering after Class 10.
Age Limit for UG
Category | Maximum age |
|---|---|
General / OBC-NCL / Gen-EWS | Below 24 years as on 1 August of the admission year |
SC / ST / PwD | Relaxation of 5 years |
Lateral Entry and Artisan Category
NIFT also offers lateral entry (NLEA) into the UG programmes for diploma holders who meet the bulletin’s conditions, and a separate Artisan category for B.Des. Check the current bulletin for these special routes.
Key Takeaways
