How to Download the UGC NET December 2026 Admit Card

Follow these steps after NTA activates the admit-card download facility:

  1. Visit the official UGC NET website.

  2. Open the admit-card download link for the December 2026 examination.

  3. Log in using the credentials or details requested by the portal.

  4. Access and download your e-admit card.

  5. Verify the candidate details, examination date, shift, reporting time and examination centre.

  6. Print a clear copy and keep it safe for examination day.

The admit card is issued provisionally, subject to the fulfilment of eligibility conditions and receipt of the prescribed application fee. Its release does not necessarily mean that the candidate's eligibility has been finally accepted.

Details to Check on the UGC NET Admit Card

After downloading the admit card, carefully check the following information:

  • Candidate's name and application details

  • Photograph and signature

  • Examination date and shift

  • Reporting time and gate-closing time

  • Examination centre name and address

  • Instructions for the examination

If there is a discrepancy in the candidate's details, photograph or signature, contact NTA immediately through its official helpdesk. The December 2026 Information Bulletin instructs candidates with such discrepancies to appear with the already downloaded admit card while NTA takes the necessary steps to correct its records.

Documents Required on UGC NET Exam Day

Candidates must carry the printed admit card and the authorised photo identity document specified in the official examination instructions. They should also check whether any additional document is required for their particular circumstances.

Follow the instructions printed on the admit card carefully. Candidates arriving after the gate-closing time will not be permitted to appear for the examination, and NTA states that duplicate admit cards will not be issued at examination centres.

What to Do If You Cannot Download the Admit Card

First, verify that NTA has activated the download link and ensure that your application was submitted successfully. If the problem continues, contact NTA using the details given in the official Information Bulletin.

What Happens After the Answer Key Challenge?

NTA appoints subject experts to examine the challenges submitted by candidates. After reviewing the challenges, NTA publishes the final answer key.

The result is then compiled on the basis of the final answer key. NTA's published rules state that its decision on challenges is final, and individual candidates will not be separately informed of the outcome of their challenges.

No grievance regarding answer keys will be entertained after the declaration of the UGC NET December 2026 result or NTA Score.

UGC NET December 2026 Recorded Responses

NTA will also display the question paper attempted by candidates and their recorded responses before the result declaration. The Information Bulletin states that these records are likely to be available for two to three days.

Candidates are advised to download the response sheet while it is available. The bulletin states that NTA will not provide a copy of the response sheet after the result declaration under the Right to Information Act.

How to Check the UGC NET December 2026 Result

Candidates can follow these steps after NTA releases the result:

  1. Visit the official UGC NET website.

  2. Open the result or scorecard link for the December 2026 examination.

  3. Log in using the application number and other credentials requested by the portal.

  4. View the result and verify the displayed marks, NTA Score or percentile, and qualification category.

  5. Download and save a copy of the scorecard for future academic or recruitment applications.

Candidates should keep their application credentials accessible and follow the instructions in the official result notice.

Details Mentioned in the UGC NET Scorecard

The result and scorecard provide the examination performance information used to determine qualification status. Candidates should check the details displayed by NTA, including:

  • Candidate and examination details

  • Marks obtained in Paper I and Paper II

  • NTA Score or percentile, where applicable

  • Qualification status and category

  • Subject and category-wise cut-off information published separately

Candidates should use their official scorecard for admission, fellowship or recruitment purposes rather than estimates calculated through unofficial tools.

UGC NET 2026 Minimum Qualifying Marks

The December 2026 Information Bulletin specifies minimum aggregate marks required for candidates to be considered for qualification:

Category

Minimum Aggregate Marks in Both Papers

General / Unreserved and General-EWS

40%

OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD/PwBD and Third Gender

35%

These are minimum qualifying thresholds, not guaranteed selection cut-offs. Candidates must appear in both papers and meet the applicable conditions. Final qualification depends on the subject-wise and category-wise cut-off methodology, available qualifying slots and reservation rules.

How Is the UGC NET December 2026 Result Prepared?

NTA follows the result-preparation methodology specified in the Information Bulletin.

1. Final Answer Key

The result is compiled using the final answer key published after the provisional answer-key challenge process. The final key reflects the decisions made after subject experts examine the challenges submitted within the prescribed window.

2. Qualification Slots and Reservation

The bulletin specifies that the number of candidates qualifying for Assistant Professor eligibility is set at 6% of the candidates who appeared in both papers, subject to the prescribed methodology. Qualification slots are allocated across categories according to the Government of India's reservation policy.

The qualifying cut-off is derived subject-wise and category-wise. Candidates meeting only the minimum aggregate marks requirement are not automatically qualified.

3. Normalisation for Multiple Shifts

Where a subject is conducted across multiple shifts, NTA converts raw marks to NTA Scores using the applicable normalisation method. The final result may therefore include percentile and normalised-score information rather than relying only on raw marks.

Candidates should refer to their official scorecard and the published subject-wise cut-off notice for the final qualification status.

UGC NET 2026 Qualification Categories

The result identifies the candidate's applicable qualification category.

Category

Qualification Outcome

Category 1

JRF and Assistant Professor eligibility, along with PhD admission eligibility

Category 2

Assistant Professor eligibility and PhD admission, but not JRF

Category 3

PhD admission only

Candidates should carefully review their official result category before applying for a fellowship, teaching position or doctoral programme.

UGC NET December 2026 Cut-Off Marks

NTA publishes subject-wise and category-wise cut-off information alongside or after the result. The cut-off depends on the subject, category and number of candidates qualifying under the prescribed rules.

Candidates should use the official cut-off PDF for their subject and category. Predicted cut-offs published by coaching platforms are estimates and should not be treated as official qualification criteria.

Can UGC NET Results Be Rechecked or Re-Evaluated?

The official December 2026 Information Bulletin states that there is no provision for re-evaluation or rechecking of the result. No correspondence in this regard will be entertained.

Candidates who identify a possible issue with an answer should use the provisional answer-key challenge facility during the notified period, rather than waiting until after the result is declared. The challenge process closes according to the official schedule, and NTA's decision on the challenges is final.

What Happens After the UGC NET Result?

The next steps depend on the candidate's qualification category.

  • JRF-qualified candidates: Explore eligible research opportunities and PhD programmes, subject to the relevant fellowship and admission rules.

  • Assistant Professor-qualified candidates: Apply separately for eligible teaching vacancies announced by universities and colleges.

  • PhD-admission-qualified candidates: Apply to universities accepting the relevant UGC NET category and complete their admission requirements, including any interview or viva voce.

For PhD admission under Categories 2 and 3, the December 2026 bulletin specifies 70% weightage for NET marks and 30% for interview or viva voce performance. The NET score under these categories is valid for one year from the result declaration date.

Qualifying UGC NET does not automatically guarantee a fellowship, job or PhD seat. Each institution follows its own admission and recruitment process.
